Having been away so long I forgot this trick on how to access Network shared folders on the MobilePro 900c running on Cmonex's 4.2 ROM upgrade. It involves an easy fix to the MP900c registry made possible by the inclusion of the PHM registry editor with the Cmonex ROM, and found in the utility program folder/ menu. Now don't worry about screwing up your hpc *mucking around with the registry (*f may be a more appropriate description for some... like myself!), it's completely safe because if you crash your device, a hard reset will replace the registry with the (permanently stored in ROM) original.Think of the movie GroundHog day for inspiration if needed

Thank you kind sir! Those are good generic guides...

However you must make the registry changes I am about to shine light on... or the share won't be found and the logon pop up will never appear. Make the soon to be explained changes and everything goes... as in my student days one former low level blue collar University Boss used to say... "slicker than snot on a doorknob." Gives sticky keys a whole new meaning, eh?

Still interested HPC:factorites??? Drum roll please....

Check this out... the ethernet to WPA2 wifi adapter runs off the MP900c usb port, there is no dongle using the (flawed) 3com pcmcia card (driver issue... needs soft reset on suspend or if ejected). My old Mp900c battery lasted about 45 minutes when online here at HPC:Factor catching up reading various forums in Opera browser (no proxy server needed but cannot log on due to catcha verify failure).

I'll make a custom mini ethernet cord with shortened plug-ends instead of wrapping it around the adapter as shown. Eventually I will eliminate the large dongle from the other more compatible pcmcia ethernet cards... this is just a preview/prevue of better things to come. When I do, I may make a few available for sale if anyone wants them...

What ja think??

OK, here goes:

1. Open PHM Regedit in Start/programs/Utilities

2. Click on "Hkey_local_machine"

3. Click on "Comm" folder

4. Scroll down to see 2 Security Keys

5. Highlight "Security" and use edit to delete it

6. Click on "SecurityProviders" key to see and delete subfolder "SCHANNEL"

7. Do a soft reset (Start/Programs/Addons/Soft reset) to load changed registry.

8. Open Windows explorer, (or My Computer), type and enter: \\Name-of-my-network-share (may need computer name or IP as prefix)

9. Login window pops up, enter ID and password to login at the beginning of each session for router, or NAS storage access

Congratulations, you now can access your network usb-drive on your router, or network-attached-storage (NAS).

(If you delete both security parent folders then you will have to re-login each time you access the network drive)
