| Will try!
Edit: there's no such option in my ACER Aspire One BIOS.

| @ABBADON You certainly have had rotten luck. I assume you've dumbed down the baud, maybe 56k on both sides?

| Ah, instead of 19200 I must put... 56000, right?
Oooooo-kay. Done and, guess what.
FAIL again.
I'm in the edge of reinstalling Win XP. Edited by ABBADON 2024-03-20 11:10 PM

| Not necessarily. As long as the slower baud speeds match. 19200 on each side should tell you that it's not a speed problem. Though I don't know which brand of adapter you chose, I have to wonder if it's an issue with the adapter/drivers. My Tera Grand did not have problems, but I don't own a 680, only a 720 and 2 CE 2.0 devices.

| What version of ActiveSync are you using?
Also can you try syncing your 360LX with these same cables if you haven't already? Does that work?
If that doesn't work:
Can you also try uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync 3.8?
Quote
Close all applications
Close all running Microsoft Office processes
Uninstall all instances of Microsoft ActiveSync
Using Windows Explorer navigate to:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\System32
-or-
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Winnt\System32
Locate and Delete the file:
RAPI.dll
Reboot your computer
Once the computer has rebooted, log-in with administrative permissions and proceed to reinstall ActiveSync 3.8 as normal.

| I'm using Async 3.8, but I will try what you say, because I cannot connect with my 360 LX either. Sincerely, I am confused: people use FTI compatible cables with no problems, and I'm here struggling like if I ever touched a computer, that is not the case (I' ve built my own computers and ever had problems troubleshooting OSs or hardware ), and I'm starting to feel like I'm stupid or something. | I’m wondering if something got messed up at one point. Like when you mentioned switching between ActiveSync 3.5 and 3.8 in that older thread
I’d almost recommend a clean install but don’t install any other version of ActiveSync first. Only install 3.8
But try that method I said earlier first for uninstalling, deleting that file reboot plus reinstalling

| Thanks Torch. Believe me if I say that if it wasn't for my fear of damaging the CF slot, I'll never waste so much time trying to syncing my Palmtops for file transferring.
And, of course, because of the damn CF door hatch of the Jornada. I have a "definitive" fix for it (something like the bottom plate that Wallyb has ), but if I apply it, I'll find myself be unable to transfer files from and to the palmtop. Edited by ABBADON 2024-03-21 8:59 AM

| Try uninstalling and then installing activesync. Install Ver 3.8 to start and that is the program that has worked for.
Casio A10/11 units
Compaq C120/C140 units
HP 360LX
HP Jornada 680e
HP Jornada 690
All of the above units i have been able to connect to my XP laptop using my serial to USB adaptor. |

Nothing worked. Uninstalled all, clean all files from sys dir, changed baud, changed all values in the advanced tab, paired, unpaired... changed COM, reinstalled Async, reinstalled drivers, test all available USB ports, did some blood sacrifices...

| I wonder if the serial cable is bad. Honestly at this point I’d either try a USB IrDA or just figure out how to extract the cabs from host installers.
https://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/200121/guide_to_synchronising_windows_ce_over_infrared/
Note that with IrDA chipset is important too. I think mine is a Moschip one.
In my experience I can extract cabs using various methods without even having to sync. There should be an HPC:Factor support article about that.

Last thing have you tried a full re install of Windows XP?
And did you delete that RAPI before you reinstalled ActiveSync ? |

| Of course!, I have done EVERYTHING you did say to me. I swear. But it seems that I must surrender, also I think that paying for a cable more than I've paid for the very palmtop it's nonsensical. Last thing I did not try is the IrDA, maybe it is the solution. |
