| The last great era of computing if you ask me! When they were trying to innovate instead of replicate (Apple). They all were doing their own thing, trying to one up one another which lead to some really cool devices, maybe not always the best but still innovative in their own right. Look at the Geobook, really neat attempt at a low cost laptop in the days where a cheap laptop would still cost 1500 dollars. Sure, it wasn't the greatest but it was sure different and interesting. You could go the extreme opposite and go for a Brother word processing laptop which was 2-300 dollars and could even get online if you opted for the optional modem.
I get home sick when I view ads like this, home sick for my home in the 90's where I still had both my grandparents who I lived with. Home sick for going into Office Depot and checking out their rather large PDA section where they had everything from Palm to Velo's and even some cheaper Sharp devices.
The sun felt different in those days somehow, it'd make the ground glow in a certain way and Super Walmart's were few between and mostly we'd just have our regular Wal*Mart's with it's enclosed electronics section. I'd typically buy those cheap 15 dollar organizers just to store some friends phone numbers in.
Truth be told, I miss those days dearly. Sure, the world today is pretty interesting in its own right but there's just nothing special anymore. All the phones look the same, almost every laptop looks the same unless you opt for a gaming laptop which may be a bit different or a Surface machine from Microsoft. |

| Gad, that stuff was expensive. Brings back a 1990's New Yorker cartoon of a airplane captain sitting in the cockpit and saying, "I'm flying this whole thing on my PalmPilot."

| A lot of old magazines and catalogues are on the wayback machine. I enjoy the reviews, the adverts, editors' letters, and readers' letters. |

@thenzero
Yes! I know right! The used ones are so brittle, it literally falls apart...
