well my dial-up is free and unlimited as well. but i almost never use it .. DSL is 50 times faster

I know DSL is faster, but it is NOT available where I live, nor is cable

hm, mine is over 2 mpbs but upload is sloooow (200 kbps)...
win98 is no problem at least my laptop is fine with that, fast enough via wlan

You could always try to get SDSL instead of ADSL. It'll probably only cost you your first born child and several limbs for 3Mbit SDSL...

I have Cable for my ISP - currently up to 5Mbit downstream and 500Kbit upstream. They keep increasing the speeds for some reason. Must be getting competition from the phone company.

Okay, mine is the same speed on download and twice as fast on upload. But I'm one of those people who stands in front of a microwave oven and yells, "Hurry up!"

i get about 364KBPS up and 2.4MBPS down. soon to be 512kbps and 6.0mbps

Well I was playing around in the car and the dialup thing said the exact same thing I dont think when i was doing it it even detected a dialtone? is there anyway i can find a tutorial to work with?


I know this is a stupid question, but you do know the modem has to be plugged into the phone line? Just the car bit made me think there.... You have a phone line in the car?

lol yeah i know had to use a phone line. but what it was saying when it was hooked up at home was exactly what it was saying when i was in the car typing so basically it wasnt working at all!!!
