Stay ActiveSynced over Network without constant window?

Clicking ActiveSync on the device shows a connect box that allows Network Connection but then leaves a window that has to be open for the connection to remain.

PC-Link (repllog) connects right away and leaves no window, but it only does USB for me. Network Connection isn't available in CP > Communication (where I guess pc-link takes it's connect-method)

I've tried to work the registry but no regeditor I've found (that works!) supports searching, and the things I've changed manually doesn't help.
