| I own an NEC mobilepro 800 and very nice it is too. 800x600 screen, feels like a real laptop. Now a friend of mine is getting jealous and wants one too. In order to make it easier, we're loking for any HPC that has a VGA screen and nearly-full-sized keyboard, like my NEC. I've been hunting and hunting but can't find any comprehensive list
The only other model I've found is the HP Jornada 820, but I'm sure there's more. Very recent models probably won't be suitable - we're aiming for second-hand bargains here. Can anybody help? |

| Nexio XP30 has a 5" 800x480 screen. Add a USB keyboard (it has a USB host port) and you're away...
...battery life isn't great though. |

| I've got a Samsung Izzi Pro which I'm not using since I changed to a bSquare.
Take a look here: http://www.pcplus.co.uk/reviews/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=4194&subsectionid=372&subsubsectionid=39
I've lost the data cable for it, but it syncs over IR, modem and (with a card ) wi-fi.
Let me know if your interested. |

Isn't a 133MHz processor a little slow for a VGA screen and CE 2.11 display drivers must trouble driving a large VGA screen. Is this device good for much beyond basic data entry and retreival?

nope. if you have a good video chip (and it's integrated well ) no worries.
i saw a 2.11 VGA hpc once in real life (sharp mobilon pv-5000 ). and it wasn't slow! |

| Don't let the paper specs sway you too much, Some 129mhz machine give you 60-70%of 400mhz xcsale performane |

well i doubt that if you wanted to apply that to cpu consuming tasks. it sure can render the gui faster if it has a good and well integrated video card to help. Edited by cmonex 2005-08-24 2:46 PM

| I would be more worried about the 256 color screen. Thats the only thing I dont like about my J820 other than the fact there is no CE upgrade path, but thats another gripe altogether. |

| I like the MP800, but I'm wondering where I can find cool 800x600 wallpapers for it (pictures fit to screen - not patterns that can be tiled). Anyone have any recommendations? |

Well, many Desktop/Laptop computers in the olden age used SVGA (800x600 ) as the standard. Usually websites will have picture options 800x600, 1024x768, etc. Also, you can do a google search for the pic you want and most of the time you will see 800x600 |

| Thanx for the tip. I was worried that 800x600 would be hard to find by now, and that I'd be looking for a long time before I found one. I found lots of cool ones on several sites. I'll gather up an image or two to show on the desktops thread, and if anyone wants to know what sites I found, ask me and I'll post the links. |
