Hello all, I just got my HPC a couple of weeks ago so im a real nooby, anyways, I am looking everywhere for a flash and Java player for Windows CE 2.11. I've herd people talk of JavaPersonal, but I can't find it, and I have no clue where to find a flash player.

Welcome to the tiny world of HPC....Send me an email at perryinva@softhome.net and I can send you a CAB file of Sun personal java for either mips or strongarm devices. Sorry but I don't have an shx version or a flash player. I do not even think I've ever seen a flash player described for CE. Why do you need one?

I have personal java on my device, but it doesn't seem to have an i.e. plugin, so its useless. Unless if someone knows how to get it working in i.e. that is, because chaivm is way too outdated. Anyways, there is a site out there with a link to a server with personaljava, but I forgot what it was. I'll post again when I get it. As far as a flash player there was yet another site that had instructions to get flash player 6 working, and I'll post that one too. I was actually about to install flash 6 on my hpc when I saw this thread.

Ok, I finally found the sites. For instructions to get flash 6 on your pda, go to http://www.pc-counselor.com/j720.htm , I have not been able to test these instructions yet. Here they are in case you can't find them:

Finally! Macromedia Flash 6 running in a J720.

I tried once but did not get it right, now another fan, Fernando Ruiz has found a final solution for this program or add for our old Internet Explorer. This is what he did:

1. Install Macromedia for PPC in to your HPC
2. Move the \windows\macromedia\Flash.dll to your PC.
3.With the same hex editor replace: aygshell.dll by ceshell.dll and cellcore.dll by serial.dll
WARNING: Copy the flash.dll to the Windows folder (not to \Windows\Macromedia\flash)
4.Using a program called regsvrce.exe (which is included in the Tweaks2k2 installation) register the flash.dll (\Windows\Flash.dll)

That's all you need to do.

For the java, there is a link to it at Andreas' Windows CE Stuff:
http://prt.fernuni-hagen.de/~bischoff/wince/Andreas_WINCE_Jornada_stuff.html
Here is the direct link to the ftp server with the mips and arm version:
http://cs.nmu.edu/~SeniorProjects/ikruhak/programs/windows%20ce/
The downloads are at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps!

Just one caveat.
The dll is an Arm CE3 dll. So won't work under 2.11.

I can get an application to play files under 2.11 (MIPS anyway) but not via a browser.

Again with the Java VM, there are versions for CE3. None that I'm familiar with for 2.11 though.

Wait, so I would have no need for personaljava then? If someone could tell me how to get it to work in IE, but I guess this will do. (Still working on the flash though) Oh wait jeode is in his last post too...I am slow at the moment...

Haha I was worried about that too when I first got on this forum (I ranted A LOT) (check out my earlier web browsing posts). C:Amie seems to be pretty tolerant.
