HPC Graveyard

As much as we love them, every HPC has it's time. Let's hear about all of the thrills, chills, and spills our beloved machines have fallen victim to.

Nope, not true, scratch that. A laoned 6651 is stilling sitting in a shop awaiting repairs. I've been told some traces on the board need resoldering and all should be well. But it wasn't in my care when it happened.

I don't think this counts as an HPC, but 4 years ago I bought a $9 organizer from Radio Shack. As I was walking down a staircase at school, I slipped and fell on my @$$, while it was in my back pocket. Let's just say, in a way, it became a part of me.

nothing here yet, but i just bought a dead jornada 720 for parts.
if i put a battery on it, the screen will light up but that's all. charges the battery fine, and even resets fine
it turned out (with a little testing) that the screen is dead, except the backlight, that works fine, and the ram/rom module probably has some problem as well. it will start with another (good - well.. better) screen attached to it, but then gets stuck at boot screen.. if i do a reset and press S, it'll try to go to HP diagnostics but never gets there
