Hey all,
Just wanted to write and say that I've gotten my Casio Cassiopeia A20, a 2.0 device, up and running on my 802.11b network with a D-Link DWL-650 card. It's the older generation and works fine with the Prism drivers!
I couldn't find much information in one place
(there are tons of bits scattered around
) so I'm hoping this will gather it all together; it took me hours to find everything I needed, and maybe I can spare you the trouble
It took a bit of fiddlin', but here's what I did
(and what might help some of you
):
First, from the desktop:
1. Install CE 2.0 SP1
2. Install Casio SP2
3. Install Networking SP
4. Install PRISM.HPC200SHx.CAB File
Then, on the device:
1. Run PRISM cab file
2. Insert DWL-650
3. Enter driver name as "PRISMNDS.dll"
(no quotes
)
4. Run the "wireless config tool" that came with the drivers.
5. Adjust configuration to fit my wireless network
(encryption, etc
)
6. Soft reset
At this point, the card worked great, but I was unable to use DHCP to obtain a dns server -- only an IP address for the HPC itself. So I went into setup again and manually entered in my two nameservers' IPs.
And then, voila! Google loads in the browser
I hope this helps.
