Don't worry, you will be treated nicely. If you are posting for hpc's I believe this thread will be frozen before I can give you an answer because ofa "posting violation", but how do you connect the device to your pc? I really don't have a very good description from your post.

You do like banging on about that don't you.
The thread was a posting violation because the user didn't read the specific rules for posting in the Bay section. I settled it with the user concerned over email.

We have no wish to become known for heavy handed moderation. Like on the newsgroup there is a more productive place for PPC users to be posting, as a result I would prefer to see them redirected so some of the excellent partner resources that are out there in CE land.

I wont be chastising people for answering legitimate questions.

Sorry I guess I dindn't specify the connection. The device is a IP based camera connects to the eithernet and uses a axtiveX based webserver built into the camera. You have to lower your security settings to Medium to let the script load. It works great on my pc but I can't seem to find a way to change the security settings on my PDA. I have something interesting about pocket pc 2003 that it doesnt report IE as IE6 so this may be an issues too. Can anyone tell me is there a hack to change what IE reports its version as ?

Thanks again
XAN

I don't know much about ppc's, but try to get a registry editor for yours if you do not have one already. Then, although I am not sure if it is set up the same way as on a hpc, follow these instructions.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Internet Settings]
"User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) "

Change yours to those settings I guess. I also found something about activex in another part of the registry under IE, but do know that this is all a wild guess. Someone on this forum may know enough to answer your question, but if no one does, I would highly suggest going to a forum with users of your device. But new users all always nice, and if you happen to be a programmer or just a ppc user, you could be a useful addition at times if we want to port something from ppc to hpc.

-C:Amie, I am trying as hard as I can in this post not to strike a nerve. I just hope that PM went through

If I'm not mistaken, ActiveX only works on x86 Windows PCs with Internet Explorer. It won't even work on Macs.
Pocket PC on an ARM processor wouldn't work at all.

Check your camera's documentation to make sure. It should say it only works with PCs.

Actually Takwu, Windows CE 3 has very basic support for ActiveX, 4 has better - but not browser installed cabs like you get on the PC.
The HPC2000 flash plugin / hack is an activex control for PIE.

It has to be application installed though.

Yeah, to install the flash do I have to copy the cab to the device? Because I can't seem to install it normally...

It is a crack

you're always using this word instead of "a hack" for me they have very different meanings, crack is completely illegal and has strong connections to warez hack is just hacking ..

Ahem... I usually refer to a crack as something that violates a security or other forms of protection. So yes I would call the Flash HPC2000 install as a simple hack instead, not a crack, as no security or protection was in place for cracking

But I also agree that this particular hack is illegal.

Okidoki time to let this thread RIP
