The *&%*ing Symbol WiFi adaptor caused my Izzi Pro to reset again, and I don't even have my IR adaptor (lent it to a friend two days ago) to reestablish the partnership.

Seems that what I need is a way to backup internal memory to the CompactFlash card, with a program than can be run from the card in case of a hard reset and restore everything. Anyone can recommend such a program? (Preferably free, but I'll consider anything.)

Actually, than may be an interesting little program to work on. Although there are bound to be things that are hard to back up (Microsoft tends to write things this way).

I don't know such programs, simply because the Jornada comes with an hp application for that.
As a matter of fact a lot of PPCs have that included as well.

So if someone develops such a program, it'd be aimed at older HPCs like yours that do not come with that function.

Well, if there's a newer MIPS H/PC with such a utility, maybe I could give it a try.

*sigh* If only bSquare hadn't run screaming.. bSquare Backup would do nicely. (Part of bUseful tools)

OOI, you can use ActiveSync to make a backup image - no use for you right now granted.

NEC MobilePro 790 comes with a backup util in the 16MB flash-ROM (14MB usable).
It runs on MIPS with HPC2000, wince3.0, core2.11.

I'd be interested in knowing what HPC device you are using, since the HP Jornada's have the backup function available to them and the NEC Mobilpro's come with bSquare's Backup software?

Sadly it seems I don't have time to write that backup program, and the WiFi card just hard-reset my machine again. I figure I'll just stop trying to use it. It's a pity, as I did want WiFi, and because the card cost me a few dollars, but it's just not worth the hassle.

ET3D,

Drop me a PM with your email. I may have something that will do the job. Yes I could look it up in the forum registration list... Yes. I'm lazy...
Also which CPU you need.

EDIT: Scrub that, found a redist mirror:
http://www.pocketpcarchives.com/files/ToolPack_DEO.exe
It blows the cabs up with it, just fish for the ezBackup one for your Platform / CPU.
