Auto PC to H/PC

Is there any way to port Auto PC sound schemes to H/PC? I have a few CDs with Auto PC sound schemes on them, but of course they don't work on H/PC. Can they be edited to work on the H/PC platform?

Can you get the original .wav files from the schemes (I hope there are .wav files... ? Where did you find the CDs?

It's on several old CDs with CE apps; specifically, I pulled mine from Tradetouch's "WinCE Tools." Trouble is, there are only two files for the sound schemes: an installation file with the extension .cei, and an autorun.inf file. You're supposed to copy them to a CF card and insert it into the Auto PC. Then it installs itself. But it don't work on H/PC. The autorun.inf file is composed of two lines only: the first line says "[autopc]" and the second line says "open=(scheme name).cei." I can't imagine it's as simple as editing this file; besides, I think I tried that.

It's not a standard filetype, so chances are it's a masked coded.

Can't. The .cei files for each sound scheme are about 800-900KB each. (Sorry for the extra posts; didn't think they went through. )

What's an Auto PC?

It's a CE-based in-dash computer for high-end vehicles. First version used in them was CE 2.0. Ever heard of Windows Automotive?

C:Amie, I'm having trouble attaching the .cei file to a PM to you because it's so big (919KB). But I can't seem to attach the .zip file intact either. I'm feelin' pretty lame right now . . . .

I've learent something new today. Auto PC uses a compiled, auto launch installer system. The installer is auto executed from CF card insertion and is fully GUI less. The Installer specifies everything, right down to the file system and required reset... and, you guessed it. The installer files are .cei

I've looked at the workings of the file, and alas it isn't a modified CAB or anything similar. It's completely proprietary.
It doesn't have an executable header, so I cannot even begin to fathom the file out for you.

I kinda figured there'd be no GUI, since that's not a good thing to be dealing with while driving. The readme.txt file does point out that installation is automatic with CF card insertion. But I had faint hopes that there'd be tweaks that could change it to operate through GUI. Sorry to hear that it's proprietary. Geez, a good sound scheme that never made it to H/PC. (There were a couple of other retro ones, too.)
