Hi, im new in this forums and I need some help to get DoomCE running in my HP 620LX. When I run DoomCe.exe it gives me this error: "GameX failed to initialize (no direct screen access)"
I have doom1.wad in My Documents folder and the doomce.exe in \doomce\ folder.
In the doomce download page it says that is possible to run in Windows CE 2.0
Am I doing something wrong? Pls help.
Thanks!

Hmmmm... how big is the ROM image of CE2.11???
Because then you MAY patch the files of the system(files in ram overwrite same files in rom)?? this would also be a big help for me as i have to patch an hp620lx to ce211....

yeah.. you cant do that.. 1) where to get the rom files.. you cannot copy them out of the rom and even if you could they usually wouldn't work in RAM... 2) your 620LX's ram is too small to copy all the ROM there

I never said copying it with the explorer builtin on the device...normally, when all the files are on the ram they will replace those in rom for the sytsem i think.

yes explorer wont allow copying many files. nor will any other file manager. you *may* be able to dump the rom (from a ce 2.11 device) and extract stuff but that won't help either. you're right about the ram files but that doesn't solve anything. if the files want to run from rom (XIP method) they will *not* work in ram.

Ever tried replacing ntldr or command.com on your PC with a differnt version of the same file? I don't recommend you try it.
You would also be lacking core OS drivers specific to the system, the registry and bootloader.
