I'm no network genius either but I thought I was a bit brighter than the average bear with infrastructure configurations. Still, the combination of the Lynksys WPC 11 running V.3 and a D-Lynk 524 router has me stumped. It's exactly as you described it.... The card is screaming for an IP and the DHCP just isn't responding. It just doesn't comport with normalcy...even network normalcy. The card sees the wap so we know it's picking up the SSID broadcast yet for some reason, the card is not getting it's request for an IP heard...maybe it's not even making the request. I dunno....I even gave it a static IP and it still wouldn't talk to the D-Link.
HOWEVER....With an older cisco 340 wireless access point, hooked to some no-name four port 10/100 router
(the router serves up the DHCP
), the card has no such issue. Soooooooo, even though the WPC 11 is one cheesy looking nic, it does work with the higher end, albeit older Cisco WAP. I'm kind of doen with this card though....think I've already spent more on scratching my head than it's worth. I like the D-Lynk router...though it is somewhat limited, what do you want for 60 bucks? All my other computers with internal wireless 802.11G nics work fine. Let me know if you figure anything out.
