desktop Outlook (calendar) alternative

I need to sync calendar events (no inbox, tasks, contacts, etc are needed). The problem is, Outlook is a resource hog (on my desktop machine), and I don't need any of its non-calendar features. I've been happily using Rainlendar (a small & simple calendar that sits on the desktop). Since I can't sync my J720 with that, Chris mentioned (in another thread) to use a conduit app. Unfortunately, I've had no luck finding anything (maybe I'm just not looking for the right thing?).

Anyway, I don't mind using Pocket Outlook, I just can't use the desktop counterpart. On-Schedule is too expensive (and extensive) for my needs. CE Agenda looks perfect, but it uses the Outlook information store, and oddly I haven't been able to find any desktop tools that do the same thing (utilize Outlook data without actually loading up Outlook).

So.. can anyone recommend a simple (synchronizable!) calendar app I can use between the PC and HPC? A desktop front-end for Outlook doesn't seem like so much to ask.. but I guess it is!?

Absolutely - this is what you need. I had exactly the same problem as you. If only there was a "CE Agenda" for the desktop..

Unfortunatley the PC side is currently only in Japanese, but it isn't too hard to work it out - it has exactly the same functions and dialogs as the HPC version.
Once you tinker, you can get it to look however you like:

Excellent! Last time I played with a hex editor was on my Atari back in the 80's..maybe I'll give it a go on the desktop version to see if I can change the menus & prompts to english...

There's some CSV files on that page as well: "app2005.zip NEW 11/23". Any idea what they're for?

One question (sorry for the multi-post) -- how do you synchronize it? I can get as far as the "Windows95/NT -> HPC (Send)" prompt, but it just gives me a garbled sync error (I know it's trying to go somewhere because my firewall pops up asking for permission, which I grant it). I get the same error when I select HPC->PC.

Ok, ignore my last inquiries, I've decided to go with MS Works calendar and Pocket Outlook. Also using Intellisync for Yahoo calendar which syncs all my appointments online. Pretty slick set up, but I'll have to see how robust it proves to be.

hmm.. CE Agenda would sure put the icing on the cake....

Good choice, I was going to suggest MS Works Calendar, but I see you are already using it .

Well thank ya I'm really liking MS Works' Calendar.. it uses so little resources, I don't even know it's running on my lowly Athlon 650 with XP.

Now I just need some hot dates to put into it! haha

Gotch Moz - that works fine. I have it on my 720, Samsung Izzi pro and desktop now - and mostly in English! Sorry if it wasn't clear before - you but the data files in the Synch directory, and they go over automatically.
