Hi there,

is there any working driver for the Jornada 720 supporting the 3Com FE574 (Model 3CXFE574BT with XJACK Connector)?
I tried the NE2000 driver but it didn´t work out. The power light of my Pcmcia device didn´t even show a sign of life.
I used to search a driver for my T-Sinus 111 card but i had to see that there´s probably no driver for this device. So I try to find some for my ethernet card.
Please don´t tell me to buy any other card. That´s the last thing i´d like to do.

If there´s no driver for the 3Com, can s.o. tell me how to establish an internet connection via ActiveSync and Serial?

Thx

It's not in the hardware list here so I doubt it will work on the 720

mmmh okay...
is there any way to use shared internet connection via Active Sync and Serial Port?
or can i use serial connection as lan-connection?
i just need a way to connect the jornada to my home-network and through this to internet.
i don´t wanna use the integrated 56k modem. that´s too expensive.

There is an article in the support section which outlines how to connect to the internet through the cradle.
You cannot, however, get onto a LAN via the serial port. You would require a bridging driver.

okay i tried the connection via the cradle.
this didn´t work.
maybe because i´m using wlan?
do i have to use "shared internet connection?"
i tried the given ip as well as the ips i´m using on my network.
the analogX icon switched from red to green as i tried the ip binding to the ip of my wlan card.

you said connection via serial port is not possible. why not?
the cradle is also connected to host via serial port

maybe i´m just too dopey for this....

the fact that you are using wlan has nothing to do with it. Ultimately you have a config problem with Analog Proxy, either it's running 'red' or your IP addressing is incorrect. Try using the IP of your router instead of 192.168.55.100.

You cannot connect to a LAN over the serial port as the connections are not bridged. You can proxy the intenret connection - which is Not a LAN connection, the proxy server is a bridge for port 80 traffic.

I am afraid that I do not believe it is possible with this product. Commercial ones should be able to do it, and chances are if you can find an established open source one that will.

Edit: Oh, and additionally you'll need a Socks 5 proxy

i thought analogx proxy provides Socks5

Quote
THE HANDY DANDY ANALOGX PROXY SERVER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In case you are unfamiliar with what a Proxy Server is (which is probably
unlikely, since you downloaded this), what it basically allows you to do is
share one internet connection with all the machines on your network. For
example; my main computer is the only one which has internet access, but I
have several other machines on my local network. By running the Proxy Server
on the machine that has the internet connection (my main machine), and setting
all the other machines to use a proxy, I can browse the web from them, just
like I can from the machine actually connected.
AnalogX Proxy is designed to be simple, small, and easy to use. It currently
only supports the following protocols:
HTTP (web browsers) (port 6588)
HTTPS (secure web browsers) (port 6588)
SOCKS4 (TCP proxying) (port 1080)
SOCKS4a (TCP proxying w/ DNS lookups) (port 1080)
SOCKS5 (only partial support, no UDP) (port 1080)
NNTP (usenet newsgroups) (port 119)
POP3 (receiving email) (port 110)
SMTP (sending email) (port 25)
FTP (file transfers) (port 21)
