Just tried using my J680 to access my hotmail account over wifi and found that it would get no further than a screen showing the Hotmail logo. There was no login prompt.

My question is: can Hotmail be accessed by the version of PIE on the J680? If not, is there a 3rd party program that will allow this?

this is what Hotmail does in PIE401 under HPC2000. You cannot click links to actually read the messages.

Under HPC2000 with a registry hack you can access MSN Mobile and read your hotmail in there. Alas the hack isn't an option under PIE302 as the key didn't exist at this stage.

Ok, after working with my findings..here is how to access your hot mail with the hopc pro PIE, download the cab file locted on hpc factor here http://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/favourites/ it has a link for msn mobile, that was the only way i could seem to access it...then click the hotmaillink, it will bring up the usaul msn hotmail pic that dosent do anything...wel there is a radom number at the end that says user id.... change that number to somthing like 5 or 4 or 9...it should give you another screen that says .net passport click on it, it will take you to a .net passport page, sighn in.....then click on the msn mobile favriote again it will take you to the page and you will be allready sighned in so you complety overrided the dredded cant sighn in flaw and now you can read your hotmail with ye old browser.......Steve

P.S., Remeber you must download the favroite cab, trying to enter msn mobile by typing it in will only result in it reading you as a diffrent type of browser....

Actully i figured out that you can type http://mobile.msn.com/pocketpc to get to the correct mobile site...i didnt realize that.....but might as well just download the cab, it has some good sites in it....

On another note, here is a site i would have added.... http://wap.oa.yahoo.com the yahoo mobile site, no special sequence to sign in either..conviently check your yahoo mail...Steve

I'm having network adapter problems at the moment. So wasn't able to give it a proper test.
However it seemed to go into it ok on the z50. I had to refresh the page after clicking the hotmail link the second time.

A shortcut might be to go to www.passport.net, log-in there then use the HPC MIF shortcut to jump accross.

Well, i'm glad it worked on your z50... Now i know i wont look like im full of bullony when others try and get the correct results.....Its nice to finally view hotmail on the HPC PRO again...

By the way, how do you like that z50? it was a throw up between the Aero and the Z50 ....I went with the bit lighter and smaller Aero.... plus being able to use a regular old pc66 144pin laptop sdram to upgrade was a pus..bought mine some NEC ram for 11 bucks off ebay...Steve

It's not a bad little toy. Not bad at all.
I'm a self ocnfessed HVGA user. My realm is in the 640x240 world. I use my H/PC's actually as an organiser, not as a note taking machine. However having had a chance to fiddle with the VGA device for a number of hours now. I can certainly see the appeal of them to a writer, journalist, secretary, PA etc.
Get the right software combinations on there from some of the great developers that this community has, you'll see someone lugging around a laptop and start laughing uncontrolably.

The build quality is very sturdy, like all IBM portables. However, alas, it's like all IBM portables. I personally don't like the case stylings of any of their ranges, they're in serious need of letting Dell / Sony or the like make them over.

MY biggest grip though... no touch screen. I cannot get used to a WinCE device with no touchscreen! Even worse. The pointer substitution is one of those awful little trackpoint "dot" mice.
Whoever invented those needs to be taken to the gallows. Followed by a full drawing and quartering.

System Spec wise
130MHz r4000 MIPS
48MB RAM
8.2" screen
Full laptop keyboard ("F" keys are special "A" Keys)
PCMCIA Type II (Manual says Type III for some reason)
CF slot
36.6 K modem
Internal Speaker
Mic & Headphones jacks
External VGA Port (upto 800x600)
