According to the NEC website the NEC 880 is MS CE Professional Edition 3.01, which I believe is 2.12?? Have a look for yourself: http://support.necsam.com/mobilesolutions/hardware/Handhelds/mobilepro880/mp880datshtac3.pdf

Unless the mfg website is wrong, which has been known to happen before

Pengyou, look at the link you provided and see the section Pre-Installed Operating system based on v2.11 core OS. Not CE 2.12
The HPC I was talked out of buying was the SideArm by Microslate. Looks like a great unit, but no office http://www.melard.com/eng/products/sidearm/index.htm

mfg isn't wrong, you misunderstood but no problem.
pro 3.01 is still ce 2.11 core. it is just 2.11 + sp1 (service pack)
2.12 is an entirely different beast in a sense..

Cmonex, what do you think about the Melard Sidearm? I don't think there is any way to add p-office though. I like the integrated WIFI, and the fact that it is as easily read outside as it is inside. Also it is very durable.

Well, I liked the design b/c of what I was going to use it for. I would have been used in an industrial environment, and would of held up nicely. The indoor/outdoor screen would have been great. I no longer work at that company, but it would also of been a very useful addition to my new job. But there are too many limitations with CE2.12

The limitations of CE 2.12-Does that just include no P-Office, or are there more limitations..
EDIT: Grammar error.

Are all the accessories, i.e. power adapter, battery, etc for the NEC 790 the same as for the 880?

Neither the battery nor the power adaptor are the same. I think it's possible to use a 790 battery, but I remember reading (in the 880 manual?) that using the 790's battery can damage the 880 and the battery itself. Also, the 790's power adaptor is too weak for the 880; which uses the "brick" kind of power adaptor commonly found with most laptops. I believe all the other accesories such as the VGA cable and the sync cable are the same, though.
