| Uninstall all AS versions that you have running
Locate the file Rapi.dll in c:\windows\system32 and delete it
Reinstall AS 3.8 |

This is an interesting problem. My 680's (2 of them ) work flawlessly in activesync using serial or wi-fi. My 720 works flawlessly with USB, but boots itself on wi-fi. Watching the screens, it shows disconnection from the desktop many seconds before the 720 reflects that it isn't actually connected. Would like to figure this one out, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I didn't want to waste a new one on such a similar problem Oh, activesync 3.8 BTW.
check out the cesd, you just need a simple reghack probably
or was this the rapi.dll thingie? |

| Wow, C:Amie I can't thank you enough.
Thanks for your help, but my only worry is this:
(See Attachment )
halfway through the installation I got this error. Also, it always connects as "Guest", how can I set up a partnership? (AS.JPG) Attachments ---------------- AS.JPG (15KB - 10 downloads) |

| Uninstall all, then reboot, then do what C:amie said |
|
|
|
| You mean:
- Unistall AS
- Reboot
- Delete rapi.dll
- Reinstall 3.8
?
Or should I delete rapi.dll before rebooting?
(BTW Thanks for your helps guys ) |
|
|
|
| Nope, no success... |

| OK, at least we know that you have AS3.8 installed correctly. (you may like to delete c:\program files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ after uninstall to be sure on that one should you wish to try again)
So the problem is probably in the hardware ports or the cable. Has the lead been folded? Contain any kinks if you run it through your fingers? |

| No, I've check the wires, and I've also used two different wires as well. The Device was also able to connect on another computer flawlessly.
Someone had mentioned to me before that it is some sort of Driver conflict. They were also having the same problem, here's what they told me to do:
"first look what com ports you can use in active sync connections, and make sure that "allow connections to the following" is ticked.
To search for a device that might be causing the problem, first go to the Start menu and then Settings: Control Panel: System. On the "Device Manager tab, select "View Resources by Connection" look in the IRQ bit and see what ports are free or what uses the same as activesync..if you can disable the ones that uses the same as active sync..
in activesync it only gives me ports 3 and 4 to use..
let me know how it goes..."
Tried his workaround, but didn't work either lol
Hope it helps,
