I have seen some pcmcia i/o cards (serial) on ebay for about $25...and an interesting ps/2 folding - can actually roll it up - keyboard http://www.directron.com/kb760f.html for about $20. Has anyone ever tried to run a keyboard from the pcmcia serial card using a serial to ps/2 adapter?

I've tried one - they're awful.

I used one with my Nexio, and being honest the speed at which you can type on it is fairly low. The keys are not positive enough, and unless you hit them dead straight they squidge sideways in a very disconcerting manner.

The foldable type, such as the Fellowes / Stowaway USB keyboard, are much better. I also have tried a pocketop IR keyboard and that isn't bad but the lack of number key row is disappointing.

Out of all portable keyboards, I'd recommend the stowaway style. Or a Sigmarion 3
