| I have not been around for the lastfew days b/c me home pc will not boot. I had a issue with a power supply but that is fixed. now the pc will get to the point to boot then go to a blue screen for a split second then go to a screen with the option to safe boot, safe boot with network, and so on. I asked my dad about issue, he said there was a virus out that did this. anyway I was messing around with my 790 and picked up one of the wifi connections from the people in my area. I am in joy! So I am asking if anyone can help fix the home pc?
By the way, I have the 790 in my windowseal I am on my knees and do not care abou my spelling. Since my computed won't work my wifi network is not working |

I have XP home. I have disk here. I was thinking about adding the HD to a spare PC and scannind it, BUT I HAVE SYMANTEC CORPERATE EDITION. WTH??? The spare PC has not been on for over two years and the virus protection war free I think and is WAY out of date. I have togo to bed pretty soon but I will check back, that is if the people who live around me do not realize their WIFI network is unsecure. |

| "SYMANTEC CORPERATE EDITION"
It's like saying "I have a steam roller", neither are going to do any good when it comes to finding and dealing with virus's.
First things first. Can you get yourself into regular safe mode? If so, we go from there. If not, we're doing a IPU.
Also the full first couple of lines on the BSOD would be useful. |

| I was able to boot with XP disk. looked around the DOS repair mode, then tried to logon in administrator but it said my password was incorrect, I rebooted and windows loaded, but I have a black screen and the mouse pointer with nothing else. I do not know what else to do. I am not familiar with recovering with XP. |

| Pop in a new HDD master to the old one, and disable the old one in the BIOS. Install an OS, and boot. Find a virus-killer, enable it... plug in the old HDD and scan it. Done and done! |

| The first lines of the bsod will still be useful. Until we know what to replace, the recovery console is of limited use. |

| OK, as error codes aren't forthcoming here, the best I can advise is you in-place upgrade it. Boot from the CD, run through a reinstall and when asked tell it to repair install.
I can't offer you better advice without answers to my questions. |

| There are no error codes. it boots to a screen that sayssorry windows did not boot correctly. and how do you want to boot. No matter what option I pick it boots to a blank screen. Safe mode is blank with "safe mode" on all corners. I have completed work for the year and will try and fix over the holiday. I will install the hd into another computer and search. |
