Not too fast guys. The "pictures" at ducour are rendered images. Very well done, but rendered images all the same.

This gizmo might only exist inside a designers workstation.

Translation of the D20 specs are over at:

http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=33909

iRiver is a big player in the Asian mp3 player market. Over there, nobody buys into the Apple iPod fud. iPod only has like 8% market share in Korea, for example. I really like my iRiver H320. It has been able to do photos and video for years now and through the Rockbox open source firmware, can now do a lot more, too.

The D20 looks to be primarily a dictionary with built in mp3 player. Like most iRiver products it includes an FM tuner as well. This is aimed at a really narrow market segment and I doubt much will ever come of it, frankly. It does not run wince and looks like it has a single SD slot for expansion. This is most definitely not the second coming of the HPC that we all dream about...

I guessed the D20 was not a real hpc from fumbling through the page.

I agree about iriver products, they are really something. My next external mass storage device will be an iriver of some flavour. But first my tank-tough Lyra has to die. It doesn't appear that will happen for a long time. It's survived more than it should have.

Prototypes and first run of production has happened from what I've been told.

Ah, well that changes things then. I'll agree it's the most ambitious and interesting device in a while. Do fill us in if you get to review one. I'm afraid it's cost will keep me from the game though.

the dualcor cpc is too much for anyone but the geek, unless it works. and 'works' hasn't happened in converged ppc devices for a long time.

we'll have to wait and see what our trusted clinton thinks.
