OK, I took a short nap and woke up and stupidly installed Activesync 4.1.

It was a BAD Move on my part. I forgot in my post nap grogginess that 4.1 does not work with the old but great ce devices like my IBM z50 or my Mobilon HC-4600. (It works fine with my Pocket PC 2003, Jornada 720, and Neta 980.)

I am trying to return to Activesync 3.8. I've had no luck. I removed 4.1 and reinstalled 3.8 - The install gives me the following error:

Alert box:
"Microsoft Activesync:_INS5576._PM - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point CeSvcGetStringW could not be located in the Dynamic link library CEUTIL.dll."

I've uninstalled / reinstalled the software several times with reboots between. I've disabled my Antivirus and AntiSpyware software. Manually tried to clean the registry entries. Moved my old Activesync directory to a safe place and more!

Again, no luck, I don't seem to be able to find the answer.

System Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Any similar experiences or suggestions. (I looked for a similar thread and could find one. ) Thanks for any help.

From the CESD

Close all applications
Close all running Microsoft Office processes
Uninstall all instances of Microsoft ActiveSync
Using Windows Explorer navigate to:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\System32
-or-
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Winnt\System32
Locate and Delete the file:
RAPI.dll

Reboot your computer

Thanks!

It worked like a charm!

It's a shame when the uninstall and system restore can't bail you out...

Back to normal, all my units except my Compaq C-140 (CE 1.0) are happy...

Thanks again for your help!
