...finally we got the SIP (software input panel) support to work on ce.net devices. it is really useful in the case of the bsquare in my opinion

tested only on ce.net 4.1 (bsquare PHH and sigmarion 3) so far...

this probably means you can install better onscreen keyboards too, that (almost all of them) rely on the standard SIP support. i didn't test them yet...

files with a readme:
http://izemize.fw.hu/sipcenet41_1.zip

this is for ce.net 4.1 only. you can try it on 4.2 too... until i try it on my 900C... (soon )

i'll try third party ones too as they're much better than the default.

btw you can have accented char support now for example with interkey.

another note: you can have this thing installed on hpc2000 too, without the coredl2.dl as hpc2000 coredll.dll fully supports SIP. so just hexedit the files back to coredll.dll (from coredl2.dll) if you want them to use on hpc2k and delete this coredll.dll included because this coredll.dll is for ce.net and may cause a hard reset on hpc2000!!!
now and why would it be useful for a Jornada 720 to have this stuff? well! this will enable more ppc apps to run...

two of the third party ones selected randomly for install and i'll go to sleep then.
resco and fitaly

you always need to hexedit them for coredl2.dll... and an aygshell.dll in Windows (must be placed there sadly) and that's it...

Has anybody tried running this on Jornada 720?

I hex-edited all the .exe and .dll files to replace coredl2.dll with coredll.dll
and then deleted coredl2.dll.

However, I can not get an on-screen keyboard.

Anybody can give me a working copy?

Thank you!

hi,

this hack is for cenet but there's another for HPC2000, i can assure you it will work. i'll upload the files for HPC2000 soon. (actually the whole hack was done for hpc2000 the first time, only one dll has been changed to the cenet version, i will replace it with a hpc2000 one for you.)

i think this is it

no need to do anythign if you already installed the cenet version, just replace the DLL files (read the readme.txt though), and soft reset!

afterwards adding third party SIPs will be easy, just get an aygshell for them or so

I've been using the CIC On-Screen Keyboard on my J720 and it works good without any modifications. It's available at Handheld Attitude in the Software, Utilities, Keyboard sections.

i have tried cic and hated it... especially on the bsquare...

so i thought if someone else hates it too he/she'd be happy with a real SIP also it enables you to use more PPC programs

Calligrapher also has a dual size SIP:

I'd be interested in how it performs under .net against the other three listed here.

OK, can you tell me what you hated about the cic keyboard? Just curious. I figured a keyboard was a keyboard. And what makes the others "real" and more usable with PPC programs? Not that I would know how to "register" the files like it says in the readme. Inquiring minds want to know!

it is just too hard to press the keys on it on the bsquare. just compare it to a PPC with its builtin SIP, you'll feel the difference can't remember now what it was like on the j720 but i think it was better. i tried this SIP stuff only for the bsquare but i know it works on the j720 too.

well, somehow some programs require the SIP installed to run properly. i think pocketirc is an example. this applies to hpc2000 only. don't ask why this is so, but i believe TFGBD (oh i'll have to try pocketirc! )
btw, under cenet you can't really save the usual hexediting by installing a SIP (many problems there originate from the completely missing SIP support) as it needs coredll hexedit anyways.

you can get the reg files' contents into the registry fairly easy, use the import option in tascal regeditor.

Thank you cmonex for the great info & program.

Now I am able to use an input method to type Chinese.

However, the right side of the small keyboard is chopped off.

You have any clue?

Thanks.
