The day we cease experimentation is the day we roll over and in a near catatonic state become a member of the unwashed, ingnorant masses

And simutaneiously say "WE ARE THE BORG....."

Shhhhh, you're not supposed to say that... CmoneX hasn't been assimilated yet!

I AM Locutus of Borg, and resistance most certainly is Futile

... I mean who could resist wanting one of these?

I rest my case

EDIT:
I spent my first two years of Internet access worrying about how pricy it was, so certainly I wasn't on for any thing like a 24 hour stint. Thing to remember for all the Americans who don't understand that, is that in addition to the slow data rate and the ISP charges, we didn't (still don't) get free local calls in the UK, so you also get billed for each second you're on, to an 0845 number (4.5p/m peak, 3p/m off peak and 2.5p/m weekends).
So after the first £26 phone call... you don't go there again.

One of my friends actually managed to run up a £106 on a single phone call by using the web, he was suicidal after that bill came in I tell you.

I thought that local billing in the UK was abolished? I guess not. Surely your basic monthly rate must be peanuts if you pay per minute.

I'd be tweaking the local telco billing computer if I lived in the UK At the very least my neighbour would have some extra unexplained wires draped over the fence.

My line rental is £25.50/mo or about $51 CAND.

You do not get free local calls? I never knew that... Is it even free to call on a cell phone to someone else that has the same wireless provider?

Somethings seriously weird. My monthly rate is $27 CDN with all you can eat local calls.

Can you hook up VOIP and stiff the telco? Or is VOIP a telco only offering? I can imagine most internet connected folks would avoid the phone like the plague and use IM and whatnot.

However, you're not slogging around in a foot of white wet salt saturated mush

VOIWhatNow?

Heh, I have a VoIP router, but I don't have a SIP registrar, and ultimately most of my calls are cellular, and it really doesn't matter if you use VoIP or a land line to call a cell here, as the Cell Companies hike the tarrift for network routing, not the originating telco.

Perhaps, Tweaking is a state of mind?

The direction this discussion has taken between the first and the last post is a by-product of over-tweaking....... in other words, not knowing when to stop!
