Do LiOn or /or nimh cells leak?

A reasonable enough question. I know nicads leak, I don't know if nimh or lions leak.

If they do it makes sense to remove depleted packs from my hpcs.

From what I know *everything* in this world leaks ... ... hehe ... just to varying degrees ... li-ions do not leak like nimh do. Ni-cads are the worst.

Li-ion's cell substrate are fairly stable under normal operating limits (temperature, current and voltage). But go beyond that and they do not leak, they explode!

i read that lithium (for example those backup batteries) can leak

I wouldnt worry about it to much enless you are using some of those batterys like they use in the Terminators....
