Rebuild Compaq 2xxxc Batteries

Hello,

I have a Compaq 2010c that is in dire need of a new battery... Is it possible to rebuild one with plain AA batteries... If so, how?

sorry, i checked and they aren't AA size, but AF or what the hell that's supposed to mean

It's definately not AA, I disasembled one and ttried to fit AA in it and you can barely fit it in the battery compartment.
To disassemble the battery, just cut black shrink wrap, be carefull because there is a tiny ribbon circuit going on the side where the bumps are under the wrap, so cut it on opposite sides. Inside are two AF? cells connected together with welded metal strips "I just pried them off with a knife" tops and bottoms of cells also have metal strips welded, same procedure for them. top contact connected to top metal strip and it will come off with the strip.
Don't know where to get AF batteries but as an extreme case jumming two AA worked, I used two Sanyo 2300mAh. Worked like a charm.

really helpful, as my compaq battery lasts for half an hour at most, but for weeks it couldn1t last more than 1 min! now it somehow got better but i guess not for long... when i got it it lasted 40 mins according to the seller.. sure.. it was always 1 min or less for me.. until now..

Yes, wishful thinking on the part of sellers is not new, Sanyo lasts arround 3Hrs on full blast without screen dimming. Totaly different though with WiFi, but I don't think I have the most power saving card arround. With a different card it should be more than 40 min I got out of it once, even less other times.
