It usually means that either you have the Proxy server setting enabled in the options, or that the connection is failing to obtain DNS/Gateway information. If you install vxUtil you can check in the information screen once dialled up.

Then it might be prudent to summise we have found the source of the problem. The ppp1 adapter should display full IP details for your connection. If it's blank, then you're not connecting properly.

where to type the script in?
There is a program called DialupMaster I think it is. It'll allow script entry.

either i'm dumb or the program is crap i tried really hard when i had to get a longer init string to work than the max that CE allows (umm, theres a reghack but allegedly it works only WM2003+ ), but it would not always work, was somehow really random
maybe with dialup it is behaving itself better. (i tried with a mobile phone & gprs)

We're not talking specifrically about ATInt scripts here (hayes or otherwise), it's more about log-in modification scripts for MSDUN (Equant style). Equant are an organisation associated with compuserve who provide additional dial-in services. In order to connect to the proprietry system you need to either install Compuserve, or run the equant script across the log-in procedure. AOL may use a similar system.

I had a look as I wrote this and there are a few examples I can see at a glance of Mac's using scripts to connect to AOL.

Of course, troubleshooting the AOL H/PC program would probably be quicker... but I don't really care for it, or have experience with it to assist the original poster other than presenting these options.

You really need to hit AOL in a full terminal and find out what is going on with the dial-up session to get a solid answer of course.

Well I tried and it connects then disconnects from the server. I bought the aol software because I could not connect using hp dialup and I'm not that technical with stuff like DNS and WINS, I just know you have to have them to connect to aol’s server. Can I get a newer IE ?

Hi there,
I'm going over your head, I apologise for that, it wasn't intended.

I am trying to think of anyone I know with AOL. The answer is alas I don't know anyone with it.
In Pocket IE, if you type this (in full) into the address bar & hit go:
http://205.245.49.102/

Does anything other than the error happen?

the AOL program works well only under ce 2.11/hpc pro. it breaks so many things under hpc2000. at least thats what i heard.
but it should still be able to dial in.. it breaks other things..
