Jornada 720 sync with Outlook 2003

I'm new to the list and I just got a Jornada 720 which was never used.
I tried syncing with Outlook 2003 using Activesync 3.7.1 - 4.1 and although the device connects, when it attempts to sync, I get Outlook sync fail errors.

Please Help!!

I recommend that you Install ActiveSync 3.8.

Once you have a version of ActiveSync installed though, close down MS Office, Hit the Control Panel on the PC. Add/Remove Programs, Microsoft Office System 2003 > Change > Repair.

Once that is complete, you should be able to sync again.

Activesync 3.8 worked for syncing outlook on my mobilepro 790, but 4.0 didn't.

Another question: email syncs up just fine with my PC, but some attachments open and some don't. PDF files don't open; I assume that's because I have to install adobe on the MP. But some word files open and some don't, even when I create them myself on the same PC. Any words of wisdom for getting the MP to open up attachments of all kinds more reliably?

I tried the same procedure on another PC with Activesync 3.8 and it worked fine.

There is some issue with Outlook 2003 on the first computer.
Uninstalling Activesync 4.0 is another issue but I'll work through it.

Did you perform the operation I outlined?
