Yea, you just jogged my memory. IIRC a tablet or two I looked at had the 500mhz mips. This was awhile ago before I had any clues about ce. Do you have any links handy? I might buy one to see how well it performs.

Will this chip ever see the light of day in a ppc/hpc? IMO, Intel and MS are too cozy in bed and the xscale has a lock on the market. Too bad, the mips looks awesome.

In deed, there was at least a Mobile Device (if not a PDA) with 500mhz AMD MIPS CPU--demolux dpad 2

the link

http://www.rothberger.net/pages/hardware/demolux_dpad2.shtml.

AMD bought out Alchemy in 2002, the MIPS CPU AU1100 became available 2 months after the purchase.

THis CPU has very high performance as it achieves the highest BMQ score and outruns S3.

after I submit this post here, the number of Mobile devices with fast MIPS CPU has been increased by at least two,

That's it. I almost bought one on ebay a long time back IIRC. Again, I knew very little about ce and the AMD 500mhz mips scared me away. I'd heard of arm, shx and NEC based mips, but what was this AMD thing? Anyway, it wasn't cheap at the time.

My first 720 seems stable at 221Mhz but goes wonky at 236. I hope my 2nd 720 (in transit) can handle 236Mhz.

I gained nearly 3fps in tcpmp at 221Mhz. That's not bad.

Now, I've been using ipaqclck or something (from jimmy software.) to overclock. Is there another overclocking program I could try? One that has more increments from 220-236Mhz?
