| What happens when you double click the tray icon? |
|
|
|
| The link comes up with "Unauthenticated User Status" and shows the link as connected at 19.2 kbps (I'll speed it up later ). But then with this link established, I try to open HPC Explorer (to the saem COM4 Port ) and it just sits there trying. Never opens. I did a screen capture but I can't I can't paste it here |

| The_Chief did you save it as a gif/jpg? It doesn't matter if the colours screw up, so long as we get the gist of your plight.
Did you specify unathenticated pda user in the incoming connections config? |

| I didn't want anyone to think I'm ignoring you by taking so long, but now the PC link connection has failed and the two are not on speaking terms right now. I'm deleting and uninstalling everything so I can start over. I only have 6 days left to return my Serial-to-USB adapter cable for a refund, so this system had better get its little act together soon LOL
While we wait: once I hit CTRL+PrintScreen, how do I save it as a .jpg?
Thanks for your help folks, at least learning is occuring! |

I get the same message when I attempt to install explorer onto a Win 98 PC.
strange, it worked fine on a win98SE laptop for me. not sure what the message could be. were you installing hpc explorer 1.1? (or 1.0? ) |
|
|
|
| While we wait it's CE 1.1 right off the original installation CD |

| It's HPC Explorer 1.1 from the Installation CD or the Sync Soft section of this site - Having followed, in full, the XP connectivity CESD, including footnotes. |

| Hey guess what? I got them talking again, but HPC Explorer still won't open. Here's the screen shot you've asked for:

| The_Chief, welcome to the registered users pool.
You could be experiencing the "sequence" issue, which is exemplified by my AS/HPCEx hybrid release, but does exist under the HPCEx XP Mod outlined in CESDC0002. Disconnect your H/PC (sorry), exit HPC Explorer - including the tray icon.
Connect your H/PC, then load the tray icon daemon and then load HPC Explorer itself. |

| So I have try to open this from the tray icon instead of the shortcut icons on the desktop or start menu? Do I have to uninstall/reinstall anything? |

| No, nothing like that.
Alright, disconnect the H/PC, exit H/PC explorer and ensure that the tray icon is not there.
If I remember correctly you now need to connect the H/PC to Windows XP.
Find and run DccMan.exe frm the H/PC Explorer installation folder (we'll do it that was to ensure we're not crossing applications)
Then run H/PC Explorer itself

| I'm at work so I'll have to do that in a few hours. I'll search for DccMan.exe and run it, then open HPC Explorer using the icon. Will keep you advised. Thanks! |
