Anyone seen the lots of MP 800s up for auction on eBay? I just bid on a lot of 10 and won them. No batteries or power supplies, but supposedly functional otherwise. We'll see when they get here. Anyway, after I get them and check them out, I plan to get rid of about half of them and hope to get enough to get my money back...

So my general question is this: Anyone have any 800/880 parts lying around they could like to get rid of? How about an 880 motherboard...

Wasn't really sure if this should go in the FS or WTB area as I kind figured there might be a little discussion about how I paid way too much for such outdated pieces of junk...

Except for my Intermec 6651, I've never used a full VGA size CE device...does anyone still use an 800 out there?

Well if and when you get one or two in working condition, I'd be GLAD to take one off your hands.

well.. where are you getting batteries from?

that's the only problem i see here, otherwise the 190$ was really nice for them.

ah and i always knew you were autogenerated_bid i saw your NEC MP700 auction but as the hpc was non functional ... i didn't bid on it... still wanting a M700 though!! as for the 800, i don't know. i may want one (with battery!) but i'm more interested in a 700

I'm still happy using my 890. The full screen svga is unbeatable at times.

Hmph I thought you would pick the Intermec over it any day. I mean WVGA (800x480) isn't that far off from SVGA (800x600). But the Intermec is much smaller, plus it's TFT! I swear by my G138 because of the same reasons.

Some days the old eyes don't work so well looking at the smaller 6651 screen

I was the one who won Rich's non-functional MP700. It turned out to be a bad motherboard. A quick motherboard swap with an old 700 that had a wonky (technical term) screen and now it works just fine. I also swapped some case part's (Rich's original 700 bottom case was cracked) and dropped in my old 32-meg RAM upgrade. It now looks and works great. (The same day I worked on that one, I took apart all my 700s and re-did the screens (bought two screens off eBay from a fellow in Florida to replace bad ones). They tend to work their way loose over the years and I had to rebuild a few screw holes. I now have 6 working 700s (3 32-meg units, 3 8-meg units).

Thing I like about the 700 is that it runs on batteries that are easy to swap out and won't run down if you leave the unit sitting around for a couple of months or so....

Got the MP800s in...they are really nice, at least the first 4 I've checked. No case damage, all covers and doors intact, screens without scratches...look almost new. Think I'll post a few for sale in the proper spot of this site and see what happens...

There are a dozen for sale on eBay right now, plus several lots for sale..8 units, 5 units, 5 units, and 5 units...
