My batteries died after I got it and
decided to go do open heart surgery.

I found out alot of other PDA uses these batteries and the circuit board.
Google is good even though the goverment wtches..lol

I took (cut) off the plastic black casing. 2 batteries
with small circuit board with 4 wires and attachment
to both ends of the batteries.

SAMSUNG IS THE MAKER.

Now,
Google for that cell with a higher capacity rating-you state 2000mah, try to get say 2200 or 2400 to replace the cell in yours. Instant upgrade!! My 720 and one of my 680's now sport 2200mah cells. They work good.

Thanks Ceya for all the information.

I kinda doubt the batteries would die so quickly tho, I mean these SmartBooks are quite new. Try charging it again. Make sure you have a working power adapter tho - the machine should turn on with the power adapter even if the batteries are completely dead. Then watch the battery gauge. BTW it's a good thing that the power meter in CE.Net shows the charge in percent, just like PC Windows.

BTW, please note that Ceya says there are two batteries, and they are 2000mAh each. That makes 4000mAh total. Crazy huh

Not always. Depends on the way they are wired. The 2 cells in my jornada are 3.6volts, 2200mah. If they where wired in parallel, total voltage would still be 3.6volts, and it would be 4400mah. But because they are wired in series, total voltage is 7.2volts and 2200mah. That is the way I understand it to be. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

about the battery meter. it isn't cenet. it is the OEM's decision. the Aero 8000 with hpc pro could do this, and the nec 900c with cenet cannot.

no, not 4000 mAh, only 2000 mAh @ 7.2V-7.4V MoMagnum's right

Thanks for the explanation MoMagnum. I totally forgot about the voltage.

Yeah that makes more sense because my SmartBook (7.2V 2000mAh) doesn't last quite as long as the Jornada (7.2V 1960mAh). I think it's very much due to the backlight. It has a much larger area, and for some reason I tend to need a higher brightness on the SmartBook than I needed on the Jornada.

Thanks for the light! I only had the Jornada and SmartBook to compare, and drew conclusions too quickly I don't know why the OEMs would not go for the percentage display tho. Hey can you ask TFGBD if he can release the percentage power meter for everyone? Or is it easier to find a freeware...

b/c most OEM's are dumb

i'm afraid it isn't just a percentage power meter, it needs to have a more substantial support in the hardware or something.. i think snappy once explained but i forgot...
sometimes the freeware battery meters can help a little, for example the wibook won1t show percents by default but i use gsbattmon and that does show them in percents wow. or the bsquare, that's also very poor by default, good, low and very low... with gsbattmon i can get estimates in 20%... better than the original in control panel

I got the battery assembly taken a part fairly easy. I have the two batteries.
They are taped together on the ends and middle. They have black pads to cover the contacts on the end also .

I am about to order the batteries below.

2400, 2200, 2000 - 18650. 4 of each. 3.6v and 3.7v

I have started working on the Intermec 6651 battery casing and hope to have it taken apart soon. those casing are closed shut.

wish me luck!
