Well, given that I have a fair array of devices, if someone points me at a benchmarking tool (I'm feeling lazy) then I'll do some comparative tests on the 680, 720 and Sig3 for CF and, in the case of the Sig3, the SD too.

Even better, if it's an open source thing then I can try it on the Zaurus...

Sort of relevant... I had a PNY attache usb drive that was soundly pooh-pooh'd by every review I read. But that drive could shift small text files (cookies,urls, text files) significantly faster than a so-called lexar lightning card I have.
To data though, the biggest increase in overall performance has been a hard reset.
