You think of the "minimize all" button? I thought of that, too, but as mentioned before battery warning cannot be minimized .

Battery warning is only one example of course how aygshell is used in CE.NET 4.2. It's essential for controling the whole user interface. Replacing it is not a good idea since there's not always a simple workaround like keyboard shortcuts or taskbar buttons . So, no, accessing my desktop is definitly not the only thing I want...

It's actually called the "Show Desktop" button; just hold it and its name would pop up.

Anyway if that doesn't work... how about bringing up its context menu by alt-tapping the task button?

Oh and I don't suppose you have an F4 key... otherwise alt-F4 might work too; it works for most windows on my Smartbook.

And lastly, there's also Task Manager - Ctrl Alt Del, or alt-tap Taskbar to bring it up.

takwu, i'm curious how many more obvious ideas you'll have that Juergen surely already thought of
my idea is that this problem isn't the gui but the calls itself (minimizing the window)... so nothing will help, but maybe i just said something stupid!
about F keys.. i think the MP900 has them (if you set it up that way), so the netbook pro (or sig3? which machine is it now we're talking about?) might have them too!
and if there isn't an F key, you can install a little app for alt+f4

takwu,

you're right of course . I've written my response on a WinXP machine where the same feature is called "minimize all" (right-click in taskbar, "minimize all" in context menu). I'm no developer, but I guess it's basically the same API call.

Battery warning is no application. The dialogue box is defined in explorer.exe and displayed by explorer.exe. So it doesn't appear in task lists or any list of active applications in any task manager I've tested till now. I guess it would help to kill explorer.exe ...
Therefore Alt + Tab cannot work either. Of course it's possible to switch to another running application. But displaying desktop is once again explorer.exe's job ...

Actually they renamed that menu item as "Show the Desktop" too, at least on my XP Pro machine. Just for consistency I guess...

Anyway, now I see why you can't get rid of the Batt warning window
