I may just be showing my ignorance here but would it be feasible to run Windows 98 on a J720? Given that I have 64MB of RAM and a 1GB CF +/- a 5GB PCMCIA drive - surely there is enough hardware to run Win 98. Pocket DOS runs fine on a Jornada so could it be set up to run another windows operating system? Food for thought?
Wow, looks like quite the heartache. So, If Win95 runs like crap on a Jornada720, Why not try Win3.1 instead? That might not be everyone's favorite OS, but perhaps it would run and boot quicker.
There is however a module for PocketDOS that will allow for virtual mode 386 enhanced execution - and of course BOCHS

Windows 98 could be got to work better with a little tinkering though. BTW - The J728 just meats the minimum requirments for Windows 2000 - anyone up to trying it? (I somehow doubt my little J680 would cope)
Not it doesn't
It meets the minimum requirements for a x86 processor with some degree of Die cache. A 600MHz PPC will to the job of a 1GHz x86 because of architectural differences. MHz cross architecture is a meaningless value.
There is very little that you can do to improve the performance of Windows on it, trust me :crys:
