| Hi,
Just stumbled across this as I was surfing. Seems like a good price for a J720, even if it is a refurb. I've never bought anything through Unity Electronics, so I don't know how reliable they are. Anyway, here's the link:

| Is it just me or are J720 prices decreasing slowly? |

| Hmm, "refurbished"... I wonder how the conditions are.
If it's like new, then it'd certainly be a great deal. |

| Overstock.com is also selling 'factory-reconditioned' Jornada 720s for $194.95 (with $2.95 shipping ). Looks like the complete package.

It does look like 720 prices are coming down. |

| My experience with Unity:
- Refurbished means scratched or marked.
- They're RMA department isn't too polite/happy when you make a return (non-DOA), but quote the website policy and they have to comply.
Otherwise, good service. I did get my RMA credited minus the restocking fee when I sent my 790 back. I would definitely recommend them if you aren't picky about scratches/marks. Be sure to read all the RMA terms and the like. I believe it is less than 30 days for a return with restocking fee. |

| It appears to me 72x prices are really dropping. I couldn't imagine buying a 720 for $120 a year ago. And it's not just one offs, but several vendors, many units.
This may self-correct if these cheap units are liquidations from medium-large companies phasing 72xs out and the supply runs out.
But I can't see 720s ever climbing back to $350+ for the basic package. I think those days are done. |

| I got my 720 for $139 or so. It came in like-new condition. I think it was from TechSmartz on ebay. And yes, its price came down and prob would stay so for awhile. If the UMPC thingie takes off and prices come in < $500 for it, I doubt the 720 or any other HPC (existing or future ones ) would command a $200~$300 or more. Makes me wonder how the NetBook Pro would continue. |

| I got mine for $179 from Ebay, full package..cradle, ac adapter, usb sync cord, software CD, stylus, plus a bonus CD of CE software and a free CF card. It's in excellent shape, only real flaw is the silver Jornada piece on top has a few small wear marks. Good deal? |

| We have to face it. We didn't buy these things to sell them in 30 years and retire on the capital gains. As long as my hpcs keep working for me I don't care too much how the prices fluctuate, unless 720s & 6651s start showing up on ebay with $9.95 BIN. Then perhaps I'll be a bit annoyed. |

And, just how many HPC's would you own if you could get them for under $10 each?
But, seriously, they will continue to go down in price, at least to a point. $50 seems to be the magic point for old computer technology for some reason. I see people at the local swap meets selling C64's and Apple //e systems for $50, even though they're 20 year old technology at this point. (Ye gods, am I *that* old??? ) |

| If Origami gets REALLY popular, then HPC prices will drop like a rock...
Gee. Come to think of it, that wouldn't be so bad!
PS: What the heck is this supposed to be? >>> <<<
I can't figure it out... |

| Geez, I seriously doubt if I'd have any room to move here if hpcs hit $10.
I remember reading somewhere a dude got a Cray supercomputer just for carrying it away. I could have had an IBM System 34 for free but what's the point?
A friend of mine was foolish enough to lug home a PDP11 he got somewhere for free.
If hpcs hit $10 it will make gift giving really easy for me |
