hehe i hate trillian... what about bitlbee ;p that actually works on the hpcs hehehe
My point is to have multiple chat services in one client.
oh then i understood right. bitlbee can do that for you yes it is not the easiest to setup but after that it is cool IMO at least.

Things that should have came with WinCE:
1. ) Minesweeper, Freecell and Hearts! With only Solitaire, the "Games" folder should have read, "Game"
2. ) Notepad (Tillanosoft Notepad fixes this )
3. ) Screen saver (We're working on it! )
4. ) Updated IE
5. ) Microsoft should have put together some font packs! (Hey, could we do that now? )
wow, you're so right. i would love freecell & hearts on my hpc's. actually a few (very few ) include freecell. but not hearts
and a notepad is also a must for sure, one of the most used programs on my PC i just use pocketword for creating & viewing txt's though.
and all the other points.. Edited by cmonex 2006-03-13 6:12 PM

| Minesweeper, Freecell and Hearts!
I have them on the H/PC. Microsoft released the in WEP for Windows CE. Also, at the platform generation phase. OEM's have the option of bundling Freecell in addition to Solitaire.
The only font you need to add to some devices is Tahoma. Otherwise you have everything you need for browsing.
I personally don't have any need for additional fonts on the H/PC as I don't print from it, and when I use it to write, I just write. I guess if you have a printer setup they could be handy. Just be aware of copyright if you create some sets |

I'd like cedit to have syntax highlighting for more languages.
A port of perl & python maybe.
I'm thinking of checking out MUDs on the HPC so a good telnet client with support for colo(u)r.
maybe an web ad blocker if it is feasible.
Netfront for hpc is my MUST have though.
This might be a bit off-topic, but there's a trick I've used on other platforms to block ads -- basically, you create a hosts file (like \Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts on a WinXP box, or /etc/hosts on a *nix box ) that has all of the ad servers pointed to 127.0.0.1. I haven't learned quite enough about WinCE/HPC2K yet to know if it has a "hosts" file. If it does, the hosts file could be used for an "ad blocker" function. A google search for ad blocker host file turns up quite a few up-to-date files that can be pasted into a "normal" Windows hosts file.
Hope that helps...

| Well a lot of the software which requires network/internet support that I want for my 620LX already exist, but only seem to work on other platforms or CE versions higher than 2.0 unless I am mistaken. So my wants aren't exactly new compared to what is already out there
Things like....
1. MSN or compatible type instant messenger.
2. A seamless email client. (nPOP is almost that, other than it stalls when trying to send email )
3. An improved web browser.
4. Something like TCPMP.

CardBoardCrusader, do you have a Frys Electronics in your area? I got my Windows CE Ent. Pack 2.0 for 30 USD there... A bit expensive, but is brand new and it works on my Velo, Nino, and HP 360LX...

Yeah, bitlbee lets you sign on to AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo/Jabber through a IRC->IM gateway that acts as an IRC server. You just connect to it from your IRC client and it'll automagically join you a special room with a "bot" that will take care of handling your buddy lists, connecting, and all that.
I installed the gateway on one of my SimplyMepis linux boxen and I've been using it for the past few days using mIRC and it works very well (much better than having a bulky 3rd party client loaded all the time, wasting memory ). Edited by mscdex 2006-03-15 10:57 AM
