Check out www.hpcnec.com for 3rd party software

If you do not have a warranty, there are still many online repair shops (just in case), such as usedhandhelds.com

I thought the 900s had a good track record for reliability. I know my 781/800/890 have given me good troublefree service. Cmonex, your 900 has been solid and reliable, right?

no. NEC forgot to use QC for the 900's. except for the exterior, that IS certainly well and reliably built! but ive not seen a lethal fault for a 900 yet. so all in all you shouldn't worry too much. got mine last summer and it still works fine (problems all solved)

I probably have the oldest 900C of anyone on this forum...and I've probably installed 600-700 programs, or tried to. I run the battery down to zero hundreds of times, and performed hard resets at least 300 times. My unit runs plugged in at least 14 hours a day.

I've yet to have a single thing go wrong with it....knock on wood.

ive always been convinced your unit is one of the better ones.
you've not seen enough 900's i guess i have.
btw i'm not sure but maybe a true 900c is better in this respect than plain 900's. just a feeling.
btw. my 900c is older than yours , it is one of the first batch of plain 900's from may/june 2003. everyone else's ive seen is newer...

You'd think a true C would have better QC given they had the plain 900 in the field for awhile to discover and fix any problems.

I must say, my ex-789 has taken a real beating at the hands of the ex's kids and it's still going strong.

Well, it seems to be the same machine through and through. As a matter of fact, I upgraded the funky pre-release 4.2 operating system with the newer flash upgrade a year back and it took and ran well....and continues to do so.

well i read perryinva posts, he had some little problems with the 900 (just like almost everyone else), and no problems with the 900c on the other hand. just an example.. the other is your 900c..

yes thats what i'm guessing..

as for the 789.. the 900 can take beating too, not this is the problem... but as i said nothing lethal.
