Canadian Tire has their 400w inverter on sale for $45. It has 2 AC outlets and a nice digital readout. IMO, why buy DC adapters for hpcs when you can use the AC adapter in your car with an inverter?
If you need more than 2 outlets the dollar store has a 3 outlet grounded adapter for $1.
I agree. When I was looking for a 12VDC adapter, I could only find a 2.5A adapter for $30.
(The J720 AC adapter is rated at 2500mA.
) Alternatively, I found a 75W inverter for less than $15, which I could use with other appliances. At 12*2.5=30W max draw from the HPC, the inverter provides plenty of power. Later, I found a 200W inverter for $22, though it says above 150W to use the alligator clips directly on the battery. It has only a single outlet, but I doubt I'll need more. Now I have one in my girlfriend's car and one in my SUV--for little more than a single adapter, and multi-use, too. :+
