| Yes Joseph, any problems with it so far? Mine has been the most reliable pc I've ever owned. |

| It is not as reliable as it used to be, since I plugged in my old Infinia's hard drive in it and tried to install W95c on it, because now when it boots up, it may or may notgo to the WXP loading screen, because it may say 'DISK BOOT FAILURE' and I now have to sometimes adjust the HDD cables to get it working. Before, it worked good, it is just not good with games, and the Celeron seems a bit too slow (mine is 512MB/WXP/120GB/2.4GHZ.. It suffices for now, and I do recommend it for video watchers and internet, just not for games, I am now saving for a gaming PC... |

| Hmm, did it come with restore cds? You could dump the Infinia hdd and restore. Unless you don't have your important stuff backed up. |

| The restore cds for my t2895 may be corrupted, because it installs fine until it reboots and goes into configuring windows xp thing, and it freezes every time at one screen, so I then have to use my now broken laptop's restore cd to repair that installation, and then there is XP SP1.. |

| My Gateway is pretty reliable, but I should use the restore cds to reinstall XP soon, because I get many error messages now and there are so many programs on the computer... |

| So I'm a little late to the thread....
I've bought both HPs and eMachines and haven't been thrilled with either.
Most of mine are built by me so I guess I like the Clinton Brand the best |

| I like Fujitsu laptops. I have not had one regret with my Emachines laptop either.
For PC's I build my own. I'm not a gamer so, dependable and stable is my goal.

Well, I'd always heard that Compaq PCs were crap, but clearly cmonex' experience calls that into question. |

I've heard the same, and HP machines, too (previous to the HP/Compaq merger ). And who can forget the Packard Bell scandal in the mid-late 90s? It effectively ushered them out of the PC business. |

| Old Compaq anything is crap. (1995-99?)
Compaq was too cheap to put a fan on cpus so used a 0.0001 cent piece of carboard to direct airflow from the power supply over the cpu. Yeah, that worked great in warm climates.
As I mentioned, my Compaq 1230 laptop had the worst screen I've ever seen on a laptop. It also had a hare-brained Cyrix MediaGX cpu and chipset.
The few consumer Hps I've owned/fixed (1995-2000 era) have been slow finicky dogs compared to other brands. I recall the fiasco of no restore cds with many desktops. Instead HP wasted 8gb on the hdd with a restore image, reducing the 40gb hdd to <23gb of available space. |

| My Folks and Grandfather have new Compaq PCs. No issues what so ever. so I am leaning toward them. |

What were they doing IN the PC business in the first place? They were a freakin' audio equipment maker, for cryin' out loud. |
