ARGH!! Active Sync not working

When I connect to my computer via active sync with my mp780 it sais user authenticated, and connected but then a window pops up and sais this version of active sync is not compatible. This event as well as the fact that microsoft computers no longer come with serial ports supports a theory of mine that Microsoft is trying to force us to abandon older technology such as the HPC to buy newer tech such as some of thier newer pocket pcs .please help if you can.

use active sync 3.8.

make sure you uninstall the other AS version and reinstall 3.8..
