I can buy a J680 (i plan to run Linux on her ), but the little thing doesn't have a battery. Do think it's possible to take a couple of 18650, join them, glue into the unit and they'll work? In other words, is the charging circuitry part of the battery or not?

The charging circuit is contained inside the battery pack yes.

I heartily recommend you do not try this without the charging circuit.....

OK, I'll pass :-) Ebay would be 20$ for battery, and another 15$ for shipping and this would make the whole deal too expensive. THX for the info :-)

I have got few batteries for my J720. One of them is holding charge for only 1 hour. I could post it to you (i mean if you cover the P&P cost only - I'll be visiting Poland (Lodz) in June so could do that then) so you could rebuild it with two 18650 size Li-Ion cells.

cheers
