Well I took my best guess...For a while I thought the "PB" stood for peanut butter.

I thought a Power Book was an Apple laptop? The CE.net units I saw on the Psion site were a Netbook Pro (It looked nice!) and a smaller tablet style unit (I can't remember it's name but it looked a little alike a Portable Playstation??). We don't have as much access to Psion here in the USA - much less here in Alabama (but we have a great appreciation for them -- as well as country music!).

I am ready for the remove program utility challenge!

Don't they call it "Goober Pea Butter" in those parts?

: : : : : : : : :

I wish I could say we had a success.

I overwrote my cplmain.cpl.

When I run the control panel the only applets (icons) on the screen are those that have their own .cpl (wireless cards, etc. ) The main applets are gone.
There was no remove program!

I had to delete the test cplmain and warm boot to return the control panel to normal. Back to normal.

What other ideas do you have up your sleeve???

How did you get your cplmain to overwrite? My Neta wouldn't allow me to overwrite it.

Thanks,
Mike

I just copied it from my pc to the neta's windows directory (the date of the file changed from 2003 to today. (I used activesync's explorer.)

hey well i forgot to tell you this was from PB 4.2. maybe you need to edit it to 4.1. let's see if that helps...?

if that doesn't help i will get you one that is natively 4.1 (there are indeed some differences between 4.1 and 4.2)

i will also test this one on a 4.2 device to see if it works at all or i did something wrong when creating it.

oh and one more thing, what you downloaded from my site should be exactly 250368 bytes.

Hi cmonex...

I did a search for the C2 01 value. It doesn't occur into well into the file. The C0 01 already occurs in approximately the right "place" in the file (as compared to the .dll's and .exe's that I've seen.) This evening, I will try to edit the first value to the C0 01 and see if I get a different result.

It is the correct length.

Thanks for working on this...

it is not the cpu what needs to be changed. it is the OS version. use execheck.

so let me know what happens if you edit it to 4.1...

I am humbled...O great mistress of the handheld!

Changed the version (I never would have thought to test the .cpl file with execheck.)

It works perfect. (I tested all the apps... so far no problems). I can play solitaire and remove those pesky little programs that fail to meet my standards!

This is great!!!

Since starting these projects:

We have got the neta to sync with WIFI.
... added solitaire
... added the remove program feature to the control panel.
... made a copy of it's flash (don't know what to do with it ... but it was fun!)
... finally we fixed Pocket On-Schedules syncing with the PC.

Maybe we can document all this and put the fixes on eBay and make a $1,000,000 off all the Neta user's out there.

wow glad to hear it works!

cpl is considered an executable so execheck will examine it.

yeah, why not document the hacks.. once we really should collect ALL known hacks for hpc's.. will be a big project hahaha

btw i once collected all of them for the bsquare (to make the website which still isn't done lol, not enough support..), but that's just one hpc model...
