Not only that, this was a double mistake on my part: PocketTV has a CE 2.0 version as well, but it won't work on your (MIPS) Velo because only the SH3 version is still available.

Errrrrrr sorry but you are incorrect as there is NO SH3 version(pockettv) nor according to site has there ever been....

My bad. I reversed the processor types in my head. There actually is a MIPS version, which will work on the Velo 500:
