Hello!

I'm new to this forum and have bought my Netbook Pro only a few days ago.

I was a Pocket PC user before and used ClearType since Pocket PC 2000 (in PIE) and later in Pocket PC 2002 also for system fonts!

With Google I found some registry entries to change, but the fonts still look ugly...

Is there any chance to get ClearType activated for Netbook Pro?

Don´t know what you mean with "ugly".
Got no problems with the fonts on my NB Pro!
Maybe you can take a look at this thread (in German) on Jürgen Rothberger´s website.
Seems as if the graphic card driver on the NB Pro doesn´t support ClearType

Manolito, congrats on the netbook pro!!

dunno about cleartype. ce.net supports it, sigmarion III for example can have it. that's all i know though also there's a little utility for sig3 to set cleartype but afraid that only makes the reg changes

Thank you for your response. Okay, you are right. The fonts aren't really ugly, but not as beautiful rendered as on my Windows PC (or last Pocket PCs) with activated ClearType!

Seems indeed as if the problem is the graphics card driver.
Does anyone know which chipset is used in Netbook Pro?
Maybe there is a chance to get another driver?

Thank you!

Do you know where to get this utility for Sig3? I would like to give it a try...

I'm not a member of Yahoo groups. It would be great if you could attach the file here, please!

Hi Manolito,

maybe you can try editing the registry of your NB Pro.
You can find further information here
Tried this but can´t see any difference...

Thank you, but these are exactly the registry entries I tried already without success...
So, I think you are right and the graphics driver does not support this feature, which is quite poor, in my opinion. Even my 6 year old Pocket PC (as well as every other PPC device in the last years) supported ClearType.

@cmonex:
Thank you for the file. I'll give it a try this evening!
But I don't have much hope...
