Hello Everyone,

I am a new owner of a Jornada 720, and I have found it to be an incredibly useful little device.

Anyway, I have had no trouble finding ftp programs for my handheld. However, I have not been successful in finding one that will allow me to connect to my account on my institution's Unix server.

I am told that in order to connect, the ftp program must be secure (implement SSH?), so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows of an ftp program for HPC 2000 that meets this requirement.

Thanks for your help!

I think that the easiest way to proceed is to get yourself a SSH client and see if you can get that setup with the shell account. Once you have done that, you can sort out the FTP.

SSH is an authentication/encryption layer, the FTP runs across it's security model.

try MindTerm 2.4.2

Get it from here
http://www.appgate.com/products/80_MindTerm/110_MindTerm_Download/

You will need Personal Java though. Check Henri's site.
Also check here
http://prt.fernuni-hagen.de/~bischoff/wince/
to configure the jar file to run on the J720
Make sure you make the directory in the specified place.

I got the application to run on the J720 but
i have no ssh server to ssh to to see if I can make a connection from my j720.

SFTP is a available under the plugin menu after
you make a server connection.

I installed personaljava to try this, but when I try to run the java files it gives an error saying it "Cannot find 'pjava'"

It sounds like just a problem with the path it's looking for, but I don't know where I could change that...

Just an update...

Using sshce, I am able to login to the server and run a terminal session. I am still fiddling with the Mindterm program to see if the sftp will work.

I'll keep you posted.

sshce is shareware. Is there something freeware?
