Back on the first question... After much discussion on the JLime site we decided that: 128MB should be sufficent for use as a PDA and to be able to run Opie. 256MB for users who want more stuff installed, such as full X desktop systems or for simple development. 512MB or bigger for on device development, or possibly as a media center

There was also some debate on what type of storage. Microdrives are good for development, since they dont suffer from repeated reading/writing as much as compact flash cards do. Compact flash is good for fair usage, since they are cheap and will survive a resonable amount of usage.

I remember reading about this a while ago. Reading isnt as harmful, but does still have some effect on the cards lifetime iirc.
