Ive got a Siemens Simpad running CE4.2. In other PocketWin devices, I normally have a memoy icon in control panel that allows me to view/stop running programs. My CE4.2 device does not have this.

Is there a way to create this feature manually in CE4.2? I tried a 3rd party tool, but it didn't work so well - kept crashing or locking up the system. And it eats up precious memory.

Any ideas?

If I hold down the alt key and tap on the start button on my 900C, it brings up the task manager where I can manually shut down background applications.

Many P/PC programs are written without a Exit or Close function, therefore a memory icon to view or stop the running programs is necessary. Even when you hit the x icon in a P/PC program it does not actually shut down the program (just the program window), so the software is always running in the background. This is not true of software created for the H/PC, when you hit the x icon or use the Close function in the menu the software actually shuts down.

This is why there is no memory icon to view or stop the running programs - it's not necessary.

Obviously, if you really want that function on your Simpad, this doesn't solve your problem !

Or the ALT & Tab key to go directly to the Task Manager.

As has been said above, you dn't need to unload by force like you do on a PPC, however if you are looking to be a little more indept and are talking about a process level, get yourself iTaskMgr. That will do what you need.
