I am using a Jornada 690 that has 2.11 core installed with HPC 3.01.

I really need help getting the Linksys card to work with my network. I downloaded the file wpc.11 v2.5, installed successfully however, when the card is installed I get a message stating "unidentified PC CARD ADAPTER". I am asked to enter the driver name. I have tried the file name and the .DLL.

Each time I try the information is not being maintained on the device. This just won't work.

I could really use some advice.

errr ... exactly what filename did you used? Me used wpc11nds.dll

You should also check to make sure that this file is in the \Windows directory, just to be sure.

Thanks. I checked windows and the file is not there. That probably the reason it keeps asking for the driver.

Now what!!

ok, now that we got the wifi card detected by the J690, time to get it to talk to your wifi router.

What router are you using? Make sure its supporting the wifi mode your card is using. Say 802.11b?

Your wifi router should list the J690 as a client.

If you are using your PC as host, then you need to set up your J690/w wifi card on Adhoc mode. Do the same for your PC, set to Adhoc mode. For a start, set SSID on both system to ANY, to avoid unnecessary complications. That should get them to detect each other.

Once you are there, you will need to set your hostpc to allow internet connection sharing (assuming you are using WinXP and not Win3.11!! hehehe )

Let us know how it goes ya?

Thanks Snappy.

I'm using the Belkin 54G. The router does not recognize the 690.

Not sure I understand your last paragraph. The desktop has xp.

An overview of setting up ICS under XP can be found here:
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/c/0008.asp

However you shouldn't need to do it as the 54G is a Gateway router (has Cable / DSL modems in it) so does all the internet assignment itself (or should)

I too am having troubles.

i have tried with a dlink router / linksys router
wep enabled / disabled

the linksys util on the jornada says 100% signal strength but i cant get online.

i have tried hardcodeing an ip within the range of both routers above, and still nothing.

a few years ago i had this thing working but i cant remember what i had to do.

the Wifi card is confirmed good, as i have tested it in 2 laptops.

done firmware upgrades on both routers.

and tried the Compaq driver crack i found on this site. which did nothing.

spent 4 hrs online last night on my pc researching this, and i am getting frustrated.

any and all help is greatly appreciated!!.

it could be that DHCP isn't working.

Get an IP utility and check and/or renew the IP when you can't access the network even tho you have wireless signal.

There's an IP viewer in one of the PowerToys, so at least you can check if you got the IP from DHCP. However that utility cannot renew your IP. I can usually get an IP with a soft reset tho.

Also, as I explained in my other thread, when I use the WPC11 card, I had to change my wireless channel (in the accesspoint/router) to 11. This is due to too many people using channel 6 in my area.

have tried the Vuxtil already. it doesnt allwo for a "release / renew" function. i am only getting a 127.0.0.1 (localhost) ip address.

wierd thing is, i look at the logs on my router (the Dlink this time) and the mac address of the nic in the jornada has a lease on 192.168.1.100

however i have no ip on the device.

as well i have noticed that in the linksys util, the Tx bytes/sec doesnt move, but the Rx does but only for a short time, then both go back to zero.

i am running
network drier version 1.07.29 date mar 13th 2002
config util 107.29 date mar 13th 2002

nic firmware
version 1.04.02 address: 00.06025.18.1d.52 (Mac)

If any of that helps?.

I just noticed something .....

i am installing the WPC11 v3 wireless nic from Linksys.

i have the file from this location

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wpc11v3_wince.exe

once i install that to my jornada, throught the add/remove snap-in in active sync, and soft reset. plug in the PCMCIA (not CF) WPC11 nic.......

The WCF11 config utility is installed.

not only that but the registry has the linksys card attached to wcf11 as opposed to wpc11. the wpc11nds.dll that i have read so much about is not in my windows directory.

i removed and resinstalled a few times to watch the whole process carefully, i also noticed that during the installation on the jornada the file names of the files being installed on the jornada are the wcf11 family of files. not one was called wpc11.

now i can assume that perhaps they run off the same drivers, dll's, config files blah blah blah. however i have read so much about this wpc11nds.dll i am sure this is my problem.

does anyone have an install for thie wpc11 that actually installs the wpc11 utility and driver set??

would love to try that.

T.

mmm yes that's how the driver is.

I don't know about the other dll filename... perhaps that's the driver for the ver 2.5 adapter?

i thought of that as well. i have tried to install the wpc11 v2, v2.5 CA v3.0 and 3.0.

none of them install except the 3.0 dirver set.

as well i am looking at the bottom of my card right now, it is for sure the V3.

FCC IDKW-wpc11-v31
canada code:3839A 12075

could someone perhaps email me that wpc11nds.dll

viao.lamplighter@gmail.com

This way i can edit the registry and direct to the proper driver dll.

Appreciate it.
